What is the Yemen Crisis all about?
The on-going Yemen crisis is one of the largest humanitarian crisis in need of immediate help with 22 MILLION ON THE VERGE OF DEATH! Thatās right! Yemen is on the brink of extinction with 80% of its population experiencing the worst cases of malnutrition and extreme poverty. Theyāre currently fighting off:
- An epidemic (cholera)
- A pandemic (COVID-19)
- A famine
- A war
ALL AT THE SAME TIME! And whatās more? This continued suffering has been on-going for the last 100 years!
With COVID-19 plaguing the world, Yemen faces even more hardship. Where food and water are merely a luxury a hand-full of Yemenis get to enjoy, proper sanitation and basic requirements like masks and gloves to protect themselves from this virus, is out of the question! Additionally, the war and famine do nothing to help the situation.
WHO IS THE MAIN TARGET OF THIS CRISIS?
The CHILDREN! Approximately, every 10 minutes a child dies in Yemen. With little to no access to health care facilities, families are forced to care for their children with poor sanitary means. Malnutrition happens to be a MAJOR cause of the millions of children dying. With the famine theyāve been experiencing, the families take on to mashing any leaves they find, heating that and eating it! That is what Yemen has gotten to!
HOW TO HELP YEMEN?
- Educate yourself. Keep yourself informed by reading up on Podcasts that voice out the reality of Yemen. Watch reliable sources on Youtube that tell you why and how Yemen has reached this dire state of need over the last 100 years. Do your bit.

Seeing those children on their deathbeds for absolutely no fault of theirs is truly heartbreaking. If we have the ability to donate or contribute in even the smallest of ways, I think it becomes our responsibility to do so. During these critically tough times, our help and support is needed now more than ever. However, I urge each of you all to do your research before blindly following and donating. The sites mentioned above are definitely authentic in their help towards Yemen and other people suffering.
Itās time to do our bit. Stay informed. Stay safe.
Until next time ā Jem ā¤
